- During the week
between 11 and 15 September 2006, MPOWER sponsored
three major corporate events in the Indian cities
of Bombay, Delhi and Bangalore. A summary of
them follow:-
Competing
for the Future: Achieving World Class
Strategy Execution with Balanced Scorecard.
This event featured Dr. Robert
Kaplan, the co-founder of the Balanced Scorecard
Framework, live, in Mumbai, on 11 September
2006, at the Taj Mahal Hotel.

the delegates at the Dr Robert Kaplan
Seminar held on 11th of Sep. 2006, at
the Taj Mahal Hotel, Bombay. |
Here, Dr. Kaplan presented his
concept of the BSC framework and its challenges,
especially with respect to linkages and in
cascading it vertically and horizontally across
the organization. He stressed upon the importance
of the need to define strategic objectives
and in identifying and formulating critical
measures, initiatives that drive these objectives;
and most importantly, of monitoring business
performance through constant performance measurement.
Reinventing
your Strategic DNA
This was a live workshop that
Gary Hamel, the noted Management Guru conducted
in New Delhi on 12 September 2006 at the Grand
Vasant Kunj and at The Hilton Towers in Mumbai
on 14 September 2006.
Gary Hamel emphasised the need
for leaders to focus and balance their time
equally on creativity, learning and execution
to be able to evolve innovative strategies
through cohesive teamwork. To do this, he
said, leaders must be encouraged into out
of the box thinking, to thus engagement in
the purpose of the organisation, evolving
initiatives that are aligned to a common goal,
all achievable through performance measurement
and performance monitoring.

Judgement
Calls: Developing Leaders to Compete
in a Challenging Global Environment.
At this event, Dr. Noel Tichy,
considered one of the ten most influential
people in the world, conducted a seminar upon
the development of organisational leadership
and leadership pipeline. This event was held
in Bangalore on 13 September 2006, at The
Taj West End Hotel.
Dr. Tichy emphasised the need
to build leaders who devote substantial time
developing future leaders into independent
thinkers and doers; to encourage these select
few to work cohesively and innovate Strategies
that are executed and constantly monitored
through Individual performance Measurements.

Achieving
Perfect Performance :
At the beginning of each of
these events, the film presentation “Victorious
– Empowered Strategies at Tata Motors
CVBU” was made to the delegates. This
film, made by MPOWER, summarises the case
study of the Balanced Scorecard and its automation
at Tata Motors CVBU, the largest of such deployments
in the world, which achieved the noted business
turnaround victory at Tata Motors and also
resulted in them winning the Balanced Scorecard
Hall of Fame Award. MPOWER automated the Balanced
Scorecard at Tata Motors CVBU, and considers
the Tata victory their own.

Noel Tichy Seminar held on 13th of Sep.
2006, at the Taj West End Hotel, Bangalore. |
At each of the events, the speakers initiated
their seminars and spoke independently on their
subject after the film had ended.
MPOWER put up an exhibition stall at each of
the Seminars and demonstrated the successful
implementation of COVENARK® STRATEGIST and
COVENARK® ENTERPRISE. This created an enormous
interest in MPOWER's Solutions, Services and
Products.
Bringing three business gurus come together
literally a day after the other is a very rare
occurrence.
Whilst all the three of them addressed different
and apparently unrelated subjects such as leadership,
innovative strategies and BSC, it was quite
evident that each of these topics are intimately
intertwined and of critical importance in driving
the success of any business. An Organisation
must have a good leadership that encourages
the development and establishment of new leaders
by always communicating to them the leader’s
point of view. In turn, it is vital for these
developing leaders to all work together in developing
innovative strategies in a continuously fluid
and changing environment to align themselves,
their processes and their projects to their
business strategy using the Balanced Scorecard
Framework, thus engaging themselves in highly
productive and victorious effort.
As experts, we say that in driving a business,
there is no second place. Business Excellence
and Leadership is about perfection. Overall
perfection is a process that stands upon a base
of absolute balance achieved through perfect
performance.
